Transport
Railway - total route length of more than 68,000 km, running track length of 103,000 km, and more than 7,216 stations, 18 zones and track length of 128,305 km (79,725 mi) as of 31 March 2022.
Road - India has the second-largest road network in the world, spanning a total of 6.8 million kilometres (68,00,000kms). India had a total of 97,830 km of National Highways in 2014-15 which has expanded to 145,155 km by March 2023. As a percentage highways share of total roads has fallen.to less than 2.5% from previous 3%.
in comparison US has a road network of 68.32,000 kms & china further down at 52,00,000 Kms.
Waterways – India has 111 waterways (including 5 existing and 106 new) have been declared as National Waterways (NWs) under the National Waterways Act, 2016. 25 NWs which have been found viable by Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) for cargo/ passenger. Development activities have been initiated in the first 13 NWs out of the 25 viable NWs.

Refineries & Food storage
Refineries: India in 2023 is, the world’s fourth largest refiner with a cumulative refining capacity of almost 254 mtpa, or over five million barrels a day (mb/d) & 3rd largest consumer. Indias crude oil import dependence is to the extent of above 85%.
As of September 2023, India had a total crude oil transportation pipeline of 10,938 km with a capacity of 153.1 mtpa (million tonnes per annum). The refined products transportation pipeline is 22,973 km with a capacity of 149.3 mtpa.
Food storage:
Food Corporation of India has a network of 1923 of warehouses (Owned/Hired) with a capacity of 37.2 MMT for storage of Central Pool foodgrains. State agencies account for another 30 million metric tonnes of storage capacity. Major produce stored is rice , wheat & pulses.
